Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Clinical Trials
Start of project
[edit]I set up this project page to support the sorting and development of Wikipedia articles on specific clinical trials. I chose to say "clinical trials" rather than medical research because I wanted the focus of this project to be on the trials, and I wanted to focus on the information requests of people participating in specific clinical trials rather than broad discussion of the field itself. However, I would like to support the development of Wikipedia articles on the broader field with perspectives from scientists and organizing institutions in addition to views from the research participant side.
I set up this project with inspiration from the work of the Open Science Federation, the Open Knowledge Foundation, the community advisory board collective of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network, the clinical researchers at the University of Washington, and the work of Consumer Reports. None of those organizations had any part in setting up this project; they only inspired me. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:11, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
First request
[edit]I am making a request for a document from en:Eli Lilly and Company. They provided documents for the en:PARAMOUNT trial and I wanted more. See also my manifesto, Visualize Everything. Blue Rasberry (talk) 00:35, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Other first request
[edit]I made a request to Pfizer at Talk:Pfizer/Archives/2014#Request_to_Pfizer_for_informed_consent_documents. Blue Rasberry (talk) 00:58, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject Clinical Trials on Wikidata
[edit]I set this up January 2020 after developing it for 1-2 years as a subproject of Wikidata WikiProject Medicine.
We have ClinicalTrials.gov ingested to Wikidata and are curating the dataset. I have no plans to present any of this in English Wikipedia, but I still use some Wikipedia articles including PARAMOUNT trial as a model for thinking about clinical trials in Wikidata. Identifiers for Chinese clinical trials
[edit]For instance,
- "ChiCTR2000029988" [1]. This identifier can be resolve to who.int: http://apps.who.int/trialsearch/Trial2.aspx?TrialID=ChiCTR2000029988
- "49218" [2]
— fnielsen (talk) 19:29, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is for Wikidata. Identifiers including clinicaltrials.gov can resolve to who.int, e.g., http://apps.who.int/trialsearch/Trial2.aspx?TrialID=NCT04275115 Maybe we only need one single property on Wikidata. — fnielsen (talk) 19:35, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
Clinical trials in India
[edit]This was a challenging article to produce because I was unable to find a single source which presented the subject as a whole. I think no such such exists. Because of this, I had to piece together history in small sections, combine incomplete stories from multiple sources, and overall produce an original compilation of what various sources reported.
I would like to somehow produce more articles like this for more countries, but it is a challenge. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:31, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
