Draft guidebook for students participating in NNU Class Project - February 2012

[edit]

Per IRC discussion with course instructor Josh, I have started a draft guidebook to help the new group. No more pink boxes. Yay! Please feel free to rough-in sections, or just dump thoughts into the points section.

I got a new message "where did you get it from? is it copyrighted? Please indicate to me where you got it... " my reply is,the picture on "Xu Yuanchong" is taken by myself on the book I bought. Is that qualified? How can I demistrate where it comes from? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNU-10-24100112 (talkcontribs) 03:27, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

sorry I am taking a long time to respond here as I am not using my regular login. Taking a photo of a page of a book does not give you the copyright, as the copyright would be held by whoever made the picture in the book. To find out you should state the name and page of the book and the illustrator. However the bad news is that the picture is probably not free for us to use here. Normally only old books or pictures can be reproduced in this way. That is books that are old enough to be public domain.Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:59, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated the article Letters for Literary Ladies, created by User:NNU-10-24100125 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for speedy deletion as copyright infringement. Text from this Cambridge University website has been copied verbatim. Given that this article was created as part of a student's coursework, course staff may wish to take disciplinary action. Noted. Thank you. Njnu-ban-xueshenghao (talk) 03:02, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated The legend of qin by User:NNU-10-24100108 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for speedy deletion as a copyright violation. The original text can be found here and on other sites. The date on the linked website indicates that it was uploaded 8 months ago, while the wikipedia article is one month old, so it does not seem possible that the student wrote the original text which was then copied by others. Here we go again. This time we will be ready for them. :) I will post some key points of the plan from an IRC discussion at that page soon. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:17, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I was trying to find where you made you suggestion to make the marriage section uncollapsed. I dont see it on the talk page for the template Template talk:Same-sex unions. 216.36.27.241 (talk) 03:49, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa! Wrong page! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:22, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong page indeed; you must have clicked Anna's link when you went to my page. Anyway, the comment is on Template talk:Same-sex unions in the last section, where I said: "I agree as well, so go ahead. I suggest to keep the marriage section uncollapsed though"..."...
