A question for this group.

[edit]

Have any of you experienced a current foundation of women religious using the term "Nunnery" to describe their house? I don't mean historically, but rather in current usage. In my experience the term is archaic at best and pejoritive or at least satirical at worst. I would appreciate some feedback on this.--Kjrjr (talk) 02:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The typical term is "convent". I've certainly never seen the word nunnery used by a Catholic community, but then I've not looked very hard. TallNapoleon (talk) 03:44, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, perhaps it is best that it not be used. It shall lend to ridicule.
