A new beginning

[edit]

Before anyone asks, I just started and will work on this. --Cat out 00:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could people help diffuse the categories for articles into the respective geographical areas? Shalom Hello 19:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Geographical sub-categorization standard?

[edit]

I'm having a little back-and-forth about whether a particular Australian category should be a sub-category of the related "Asia" or "Oceania" category. I'd prefer to follow the U.N. standard (Australia as part of Oceania), but if Wikipedia has chosen a different standard, that's fine too. Anybody have a reference at which I can be pointed? Revival

[edit]

Due to the previous maintainer's extended absence of three years as well as my involvement in categorization work, I am taking the lead for this project and promise to expand its coverage, improve its principles, promote, and encourage its growth. mheart (talk) 01:42, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just happened on Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories. I'm going to consider this WikiProject to be redundant and contribute there. mheart (talk) 02:41, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting by timestamp

[edit]

Hello! I would like to ask some competent if it is posible to sort articles by time or date (in categories). I mean is there some trick that sorts articles by the time they have been added into category? Thanks --ra1n 21:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ra1n (talkcontribs)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live!

[edit]

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Potentially useful unused navbox

[edit]

See {{Wikipedia categorization navbox}}. Is this something that should be retained and transcluded or deleted? It actually might be useful. ~ Rob13Talk 02:14, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 1 May 2018

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: no consensus normally no comment means we move it, but moving pages in project space and merging WikiProjects seems like it should have a stronger consensus, even if one is dead. It also might not be the best discussion to have via an RM. I'm closing this as no consensus, but if someone else thinks it should go forward, feel free to propose again and advertise this move. Wikipedia:WikiProject Category sortingWikipedia:WikiProject Categories/taskforce/category sorting – Merge this defunct category into being a taskforce of WP:WikiProject Categories, similarly to how other inactive or defunct WikiProjects are merged into active ones with the same or greater scope. (ie. defunct/inactive TV series WPPs have several times been merged into WP:TV) That will allow the merging of the talk pages, so that after archiving the current talk, the taskforce talk page can be redirected to WPCATEGORIES talk page for a WP:CENTRAL centralized discussion area. This is done on several other Wikiprojects (ie. WP:MILHIST taskforce talk pages all redirect to the central talk page). The archived talk page will appear in the WPCATEGORIES talkpage {{archivebox}} as a separate listing of merged talk pages old talk archives. -- 70.51.203.56 (talk) 04:29, 1 May 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

How do we sort drag queens?

[edit]

Further input is requested at Category talk:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants#Sorting --woodensuperman 09:19, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Further to above, editors have blanketly removed defaultsort keys from all of the articles, so some further input is desperately needed. --woodensuperman 09:30, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
