Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Australian law/Case law
Hi. Just though I'd let someone more senior than me know of the information I have. Legislation now requires that "The State of Western Australia" be used in place of "R" or The Queen. The Act that changed this is the "Acts Amendment and Repeal (Courts and Legal Practice) Act 2003 (No. 65 of 2003) which became operational on 1 Jan 2004. This is in the Gazette for 30 Dec 2003 p. 5722. Actions started before 1 Jan 2004 will still be cited in the old way.
This is to help with any confusion about whether to put 'R' or 'The State of Western Australia' in Western Australian criminal cases. 09:50, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
