Suffolk Punch FA push
Hello everyone! I am just dropping a note to let you all know that several of us from the Equine Wikiproject are working to get Suffolk Punch (a draft horse breed) to FA status. More eyes on the article are always appreciated. Please feel free to copyedit as needed or just drop comments on the talk page. Thanks in advance! Dana boomer (talk) 17:57, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Black pepper for FAR
I have nominated Black pepper for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 22:19, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Request for article assessment
Not sure how I request assessment for new article from your Wiki-Ag team. Just finished article on E. R. Jackman (Oregon author and agriculture expert), and would like to get assessment?--Orygun (talk) 01:06, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 04:38, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles tagged by their banner enter a workflow such as Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, and Peer review (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found at here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features.
The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts".

New WikiProject Proposal: Forestry
Afternoon, I've created a new WikiProject proposal for the subject/profession of forestry. I noticed that you've included forestry as one of your areas of focus; I'm thinking it deserves to splinter off and have its own WikiProject if there's enough interest. Input appreciated either here or on the WikiProject proposal. Thanks minnecologies (talk) 16:21, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
WP:NOT#PLOT
WP:NOT#PLOT: There is an RfC discussing if our policy on plot, WP:PLOT, should be removed from what Wikipedia is not. Please feel free to comment on the discussion and straw poll. |
Apologies for the notice, but this is being posted to every WikiProject to avoid accusations of systemic bias. Hiding T 13:19, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
GA Sweeps invitation
This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.
We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.
If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Livestock TF
I've been away a long time and I see there's been a lot of evolution to this project and that's a good thing. I notice that we still have a lot of livestock stuff under the main project but there appears to be a well developed Livestock TF now, it was in its infancy when I last was here. We should be looking to transfer responsibility for a lot of the templates etc. to there. (Although overall responsibility for consistency should remain here). If the TF hasn't yet developed a good infobox that should be referred to them. It is or at least was a huge project that wasn't moving much last I saw and I notice it is still on our to do list. Thoughts? --Doug.(talk • contribs) 09:20, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- BTW, if there's anything of special significance going on here, don't hesitate to e-mail me. I've been very busy IRL over the past few months but I still remain very interested in this WP.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 09:23, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Project parentage
I think the "Parent project" is supposed to be a more general WikiProject, not itself. I don't know if there is no parent whether it should be omitted or if there is supposed to be a link to the WikiProject Directory. -- SEWilco (talk) 15:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
First attempt of cleaning up (25+) citations. Looks like someone has overlinked a lot of the nouns in the article. Still needs a lot of cleanup. BlindEagletalk~contribs 17:38, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Roguing proposed for deletion
Hey Agriculture folks. I just proposed Roguing for deletion. It's outside of any possiblity of expertise, so if you want it, I wanted to make sure you were aware it even exists. I won't be watching this project, please give me a heads up on my talk page. Cheers! tedder (talk) 05:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Lots of new agriculture articles
Hi,
I wish I knew about this project a few weeks ago -- I've recently created ~ 700 articles using CRS Report for Congress: Agriculture: A Glossary of Terms, Programs, and Laws, 2005 Edition - Order Code 97-905, and I plan to create ~500 more.
At the moment, these articles can be identified as all containing the verbatim wikitext,
*Adapted from [http://ncseonline.org/nle/crsreports/05jun/97-905.pdf CRS Report for Congress: Agriculture: A Glossary of Terms, Programs, and Laws, 2005 Edition - Order Code 97-905], a document in the public domain.
However, I am going to request a Bot to replace this with
{{CRS|article = Report for Congress: Agriculture: A Glossary of Terms, Programs, and Laws, 2005 Edition|url = http://ncseonline.org/nle/crsreports/05jun/97-905.pdf|author= Jasper Womach}}
which will display
This article incorporates public domain material from Jasper Womach. Report for Congress: Agriculture: A Glossary of Terms, Programs, and Laws, 2005 Edition (PDF). Congressional Research Service.
please contact me on my Talk page if you have any questions/concerns regarding this. Agradman talk/contribs 15:21, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Article Importance
Not that this matters much, but why is the Farm assurance article rated as being more important than Farm article to this WikiProject? 18.96.7.144 (talk) 22:27, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for noticing. Since the article is tagged as having a rather narrow view point, I changed the importance down to Mid-importance. Regards, BlindEagletalk~contribs 20:20, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Picture description help requested
Does anyone know more about this piece of equipment, probably late 19th or early 20th century? I'm guessing it is a combination hand plough & seeder, but I'm no expert at all. Feel very free to edit the description on the Commons if you know more. - Jmabel | Talk 17:03, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Portal:Agriculture and Agronomy needs maintainers
Regarding Portal:Agriculture and Agronomy, it just survived the aforementioned MfD, but the nominator had a good point.. this portal has gone stale, without an update for 4 years, and could probably use an update from someone interested in this subject. -- Ϫ 02:01, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Featured Portal Nomination
Hello everyone! I am just leaving a note here to notify anyone who is interested that I have nominated Portal:Horses for Featured Portal status. The nomination page can be found at Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Portal:Horses. If you have the time, please stop by the portal, and feel free to drop your comments either on the portal talk page or the nomination page. Thanks! Dana boomer (talk) 23:33, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Pageview stats
After a recent request, I added WikiProject Agriculture to the list of projects to compile monthly pageview stats for. The data is the same used by http://stats.grok.se/en/ but the program is different, and includes the aggregate views from all redirects to each page. The stats are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Agriculture/Popular pages.
The page will be updated monthly with new data. The edits aren't marked as bot edits, so they will show up in watchlists. You can view more results, request a new project be added to the list, or request a configuration change for this project using the toolserver tool. If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks! Mr.Z-man 04:20, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
High importance article review please!
Hi all, I've recently posted a proposed thorough overhaul of the Soil Association page to more accurately reflect the organisation's activities and history. Can those with an interest in this fascinating organisation please comment / approve. I'm a new contributer to Wikipedia, so not entirely sure of the edit / approval process. The page is rated grade C, high importance by WikiProject Agriculture.
