Pretty interesting. We should have had this page done a long time ago. Dori | Talk 03:55, Mar 12, 2004 (UTC)

Should we put the answers on this page, or just the requests? Mark Richards 07:23, 12 Mar 2004 (UTC)
We should probably not mock the people who turn to Wikipedia for information. It's not nice, and it's not good public relations. - Nunh-huh 07:25, 12 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Good point. I suppose most requests like these should actually go to the reference desk. Since I created it, I think I'll go ahead and list it on VfD. -- Wapcaplet 18:16, 12 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Would removing the names of people who asked these questions be more in line with the spirit of "more bad jokes" etc that yoou were aiming for? fabiform | talk 22:38, 12 Mar 2004 (UTC)
This is hilarious! I do think, though, that removing people's names would be accurate. Still, this is rather quite funny. I don't think this should be deleted. Johnleemk 07:35, 17 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Apparently I missed most of the voting on this regarding deletion. Since I guess we're keeping it, perhaps we should take care to make sure it doesn't just turn into a list of questions that should have simply been posted on the reference desk (which are usually perfectly valid questions), but rather a list of questions or comments that would be strange and inappropriate even on the reference desk. I'll make some edits to that effect. -- Wapcaplet 01:19, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Better at meta? Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 11:22, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Not unless it's going to span multiple languages and/or projects, surely. - IMSoP 03:53, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Where is my Purple GBC?

[edit]

A thought on the thyroid treatment one

[edit]

If the history for the one saying "XXX is suffering a thyroid disease" is still on the Village Pump, including the actual name, mightn't Wikipedia be violating some sort of privacy law by distributing it? (IANAL.) Nickptar 19:33, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not suitable but...

[edit]

In a previous life, I worked for ***** Electronics, who made a Who_Wants_To_Be_A_Millionaire electronic board game. Amongst the questions was "Where in the body would you find the cervix?" The options were IIRC Neck, Leg, Arm, Fingers. As the Wikipedia link shows, the majority thought the answer to be somewhat away from these options. The volume of mail was such that I produced a boilerplate letter and a sheaf of print-outs from the internet, plus a photocopy from Grey's Anatomy, that we sent to each person complaining in order to prove that we were right after all. Having bruised my cervix when I was 13 (and I'm a man, I point out in a husky, deep voice) I thought it was obvious. It's only later that I realised that perhaps the people writing in had a point. Mind you, the volume of mail from people who thought we'd missed a Pokemon character out of a similar product (a character that appeared two years after the product was released) suggested that people were simply looking for errors. Or weren't that bright. And don't get me started on the guy who used to ring us up to talk about the various Pokemon characters he had collected whilst, um, well, getting some pleasure from the conversation... Is this sufficiently unusual?

[edit]

I kind of appreciate the honesty about what he's looking for... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Miscellaneous#gif_dump —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.233.84.97 (talk) 20:07, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know ... there have been far more unusual questions than that posted to the reference desks. It's certainly not out of place there. Graham87 02:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New cat?

[edit]

Should this essay be included in Category:Lists of things considered unusual‎? NJGW (talk) 07:32, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why not. Done. Graham87 07:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unless there's a problem with lists in the Wikipedia namespace being categorised with lists in the article namespace. That's usually not allowed. Graham87 07:43, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaced with [address] as it can be used to find the name of the company using a simple google search Suraj T 06:01, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Add topic

[edit]

I would like for a discussion called "tea?", made on November 7th, to be added to this page. If so, can you tell me how to add the discussion here? It is humorous, and this is a humorous page Club On a Sub 20 (talk) 16:19, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@club on a sub 20: just copy and paste the wikicode in, and add a suitable header. lettherebedarklight晚安 おやすみping me when replying 00:07, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
