College athletics
[edit]Hi. User:Carajs94 and User:Aoa24 were involved with editing College athletics. The article they were working on has subsequently been moved to College athletics in the United States. This impacts the article User:Aoa24 and User:Carajs94 will be assessed on. Beyond that, User:Aoa24's edits have created a conflict of interest problem because User:Aoa24 is more concerned about classroom assessment than on following Wikipedia guidelines and actually improving the article. They asked that the article be moved back to College athletics instead of addressing the tags on the article because they did not want to e-mail you to inform you of these issues. The edits made by User:Aoa24 have given undue weight to the topic of College athletics in the United States. The article is lacking in history and roughly a third of the article now focuses on this topic. At most, this deserves a paragraph or three in the article. Also, the student really should be learning about the global nature of sport and that college athletics exist outside the United States. Accusing people of being anti-American because they asked for a tag to be addressed and the article to be globalised? It doesn't speak well of student preparedness to edit because they do not understand the GLOBAL nature of Wikipedia. (Hello from the sport programme at another university.)
Any assessment of student work in relation to this article is thus poor. They need to address WP:UNDUE and demonstrate WP:COI is not a problem. --LauraHale (talk) 03:22, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
