Crisco 1492 You may not have seen my posts at Wikipedia_talk:Today's_featured_article#.22Old.22_FAs_with_suggested_dates_in_the_next_few_months. Sorry if that's the wrong place, lmk if there's a better place to post, or if I'm just barking up the wrong tree! Aug 5 2016 is Trott's 150th birthday. Could this chap wait another year? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 11:14, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Pentland was requested for this date at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/Jerry Pentland. You would have to ask Ian Rose if he's willing to give up the spot. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 12:05, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
Ah. Fair enough. Ian, could you live with this going to November (date of death) or even next August? I'd understand if you declined. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:12, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi there, well I think a 150th anniversary trumps a 122nd -- I just wish you'd claimed the date before I did...! I don't mind making way, but I notice 3 November has been earmarked in TFAR Pendings by Wehwalt and I'm happy to leave it to him -- Chris, do want to just schedule Pentland for sometime later in August or in early September so I don't have to try and remember to put it up again in a year (which wouldn't be a round-number anniversary either)? We could drop the full life dates and shorten the blurb in that case, which can't hurt... ;-) Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 13:22, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, Ian. I started a spate of enhancements to my "Old FAs" page on July 7 and it fell out of that. Really appreciate it. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:08, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Not at all, actually I've been thoroughly spoiled with TFAs this past month or so -- probably in danger of getting a sense of entitlement... 😉 Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 14:51, 25 July 2016 (UTC)

Dank, Crisco 1492, are you happy for this? Want me to start working up a blurb. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 17:49, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sure. - Dank (push to talk) 18:02, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sure. We can just move Pentland over to August 10th. Nothing of particular significance for that date. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 06:18, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
I want to include the cigar butt story, as it adds colour. Think I need the interwiki link to [1]? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 11:40, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Personally, I prefer to avoid interwiki links at TFA. - Dank (push to talk) 11:51, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- I'll stick with it. We have no article on butts of this type. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:09, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Needs a link for "cigar"? I always worry about overlinking. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:43, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

Should be in the limit now. Please check my working. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:43, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Great job. It was 1201; I trimmed it to 1147. 1175 is the max, usually. (1200 is the max if i have to work hard to fight against preconceptions or if there's a storyline that feels incomplete in less than 1200 chars.) I rewrote the quoted bits because so much writing is infected with postmodernism; I was concerned that they would be perceived as squeemishness about or distancing yourself from your word choice. - Dank (push to talk) 15:03, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Your c-e was excellent, thank you. As ever. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 21:47, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
