The Dev's are pretty busy. I thnk it's a good idea to discuss on wiki before filing a change request, to make sure that what gets requested is thought through. Regards, Ben Aveling 01:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

School IPs

Would school IPs be flagged under this policy? Even though they can be shared by thousands of possible editors, they tend to be a lot more vandalous then your typical AOL IP. In fact, a look at WP:ABUSE shows that several static school IPs have been permablocked at the request of the school due to persistant vandalism. MER-C 14:10, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

School IPs meet all the criteria: they are shared, they are often used to vandalise, and they are often used by good editors as well. Therefore, school IPs will be flagged under this proposal (which is not a policy). My school IP has been blocked, and I would prefer it be flagged as shared. --J.L.W.S. I appreciate your enthousiasm, but Wikipedia proposals aren't enacted by voting upon them (see also WP:DDV), and feature requests (for software extensions) have to be implemented by the Developers who are not swayed by majority opinion. I would recommend that you ask for feedback on this proposal at e.g. the village pump, or discuss with Brion Vibber (and the other devs) as to its feasibility. As for myself, I think this is a useful idea in principle, but would like to see some statistics to point out this is actually a problem. >Radiant< 14:37, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia proposals aren't enacted through straw polls (see also WP:DDV), and feature requests (for software extensions) have to be implemented by the Developers who are not swayed by straw polls. You need to convince the devs here that there is a problem that can be solved; you cannot convince a dev by having people countersign your claim, only by having solid arguments. >Radiant< 15:11, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
