Suggestion for discussion
[edit]The three contributions that students need to do next partial (~October) is to significantly edit an article, create a stub and translate an article from English Wikipedia for Spanish Wikipedia. Mentors, if you would be so kind as to look over the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mexico, Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mexico and Category:Mexico_stubs pages to help students discuss and select projects to do in October. For more information, see the Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus page. Thank you! Thelmadatter 13:59, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Article we are going to modify (Please MENTORS, We need help!!!)
[edit]Hello mentors:
We are modifying an article about something of Mexico for this partial and We would like you to check it to give us your opinion. The article is about Pemexgate and there is a lot of information missing. We have already mdified it, but we would thank you a lot if you please check it and tell us how you think it is. Yo can check the article in the wikipedia page, but we also put it here to make it easier. Thank you very much.
Pemexgate was a political scandal in Mexico that occurred during the presidency of Vicente Fox (2000-2006). Event In those years, administrative environment of PEMEX was very corrupt because there where monopoly, no stock holders, a powerful union, and a complex structure not revealed to the general public. This entire problem started in 2000 when Raúl Muñoz Leos, director of PEMEX during the presidency of Vicente Fox, promised a restructuration that would save three million USD of unnecessary expenses. To the surprise of everyone, profits acquired where more than the expected (one hundred and ninety seven millions of dollars). Here is where the problem started because they begun to use the money to illegal things. [1] For example: in 2004 Raúl Muñoz Leos signed an agreement in an illegal way with the Syndical of Petrol Workers of Mexico. This agreement forced PEMEX to give almost 8 millions pesos to the Syndical of Petrol Workers of Mexico. According to Raul Muñoz, Carlos Romero Deschamps, leader of the union, forced him to sign this agreement. .[2] Another example, being the most important, was that in 2001 it was discovered that funds from the union of workers of PEMEX, the national oil company, were misdirected to support the campaign of Francisco Labastida, candidate for the Institutional Revolutionary Party in the year 2000. Those thought responsible were not convicted although the party was fined for MXN $1,000 million (about 90 million United States dollars). The press gave it the name 'pemexgate', a combination of PEMEX and Watergate. Investigations In 2001 investigations started and after a large process, the government declared that Pemexgate was not a matter of Money washing or organized delinquency. Because of this, many people was declared innocent but some of them where declared responsible for electoral fraud and illegal exercise of the public service. There where people from PEMEX that was declared innocent: Rogelio Montemayor (ex director of the administrative corporative), Carlos Juaristi Septien (ex director of the financial corporative), and Julio Pindter Gonzalez (subdirector of labor relations). From Syndicate, three men where declared innocents from money washing and organized delinquency, but they were accused of electoral fraud and illegal exercise of the public service: Carlos Romero Deschamps (leader of the syndicate), Ricardo Aldana (syndicate member), Jesus Olvera Mendez (syndicate member) From PRI, four men were declared innocents from money washing and organized delinquency, but they were accused of electoral fraud. It is important to mention that they were collaborators (as a direct team helping him with the campaign) of Francisco Labastida (candidate for the Institutional Revolutionary Party in the year 2000). They were: Carlos Aldama (ex secretary of elections), Jorge Cardenas Elizondo (ex secretary of financial department), Alonso Breton Figueroa (sub secretary of financial department), and Joel Hortiales Pacheco (ex technical secretary of financial department). .[3]. :----- Lirdoco

When Toluca was founded by the Matlazincas its original name was Nepintahihui (land of corn), the current name was given by the aztecs in 1473. The Toluca name has its origin in tollocan that comes from the word Tolo that means place of Tolo, place of Tolochi, or place of Tolotzin, so we can infer that Tolo means Tolo´s god place [4]). The name Toluca de Lerdo was adopted in 1861 in honor of the Mexican President Sebastian Lerdo de Tejada (<ref>"Toluca". Retrieved 2007-10-04. {{cite web}}
