Suggestion for discussion

The three contributions that students need to do next partial (~October) is to significantly edit an article, create a stub and translate an article from English Wikipedia for Spanish Wikipedia. For more information, see the Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus page. As the members of this group are from South America, they will need your help to find the appropriate Wikiproject pages to work from. ECONOMY

AGRICULTURE

Mexico’s areas are known for cultivating corn, bean, potato, barley, pea, sugar cane, green bean, fruits and others, but some of these products are dedicated for self-consuming.For example, pea and barley grow mostly in Chalma, Tenancingo, and Villa Guerrero and they give total supply for DF region. The south is characterized for its tropical weather. Therefore they fruit farm peach, apple and nut. The Laderas del Sur region produces avocatto and onions and the quantity is as good as the quality. Toluca valley is the main potato producer in the country. Planting flowers is considered one of the most important activities in the state. Flowers are distributed to DF and many parts of the world as well.

STOCKBREEDING

Since colonial time, when stock breeding began to appear in Mexican lands, it showed a great development due to wealth and variety of the lands. Toluca valley was known as the biggest stock breading producer in that time. Mexico State is one of the most important places for cattle. There are mostly located in the north and north east of the state. Nowadays cattle, sheep and pig are raised.

MINING

Mining is very important activity in national’s economy. Its production requires a large amount of workers. Mexican underground is full of metal and non-metal elements that later can be transformed in very useful products. Some of the metal materials founded in the lands are gold, silver, copper, zinc and lead. The non-metals are the following: sodium bicarbonate, calcium oxide and indsutrial salts; also limestone, clay and gravel.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Industries in Mexico State have accomplished a high level of development. More than a half of them are situated in Naucaplan, Tlalnepantla, Ecatepec and Cuautitlán. Since 1940, they have achieved serious improvements and nowadays these are already part of Mexico City suburbs.

Another important business area is Lerma-Toluca. It is considered as another main industrial zone. Vast quantities of population and industries have demanded the creation of new manufacturing areas. Some of them are located in Atlacomulco, Tultepec, Alamoya de Juarez, Chalco, Texcoco, Tenancingo y Amecameca.

Mexican industry is famous in the following areas: chemistry, textile, cardboard and paper bag, food, dressing, construction, petrochemistry, electrical products, cars, machines, furniture and wood articles, plastic and rubber, painting, steel, iron, glass and aluminum, etc.

Corporations’ investments have contributed to diverse Mexican industrial development. Foreigner companies have invested too.

Amorfinos (STUB)

Amorfino is defined as some type of Ecuadorian poetry. It manifests Coast Folklore and represents, in a way, peasants’ feelings. They are mostly used in “montubios” roundups. Amorfinos are considered as a challenge, a sweet and delicate verse that tries to conquer a woman, occurrences that cause fun. They are a game in where comedy predominates and occurs by an interchange of experiences.

Cuando veo una morena

Me lo voy de medio lao,

Como er gavilán ar pollo,

Como la garza ar pescador.

El gallo en su gallinero

También se sacude y canta

El que duerme con mujer ajena

Paso a paso se levanta.
