Happy to help you all. First things first, Wikipedia is case sensitive. So when you gave me a link to "/From The South", you linked me to the wrong page. Took me a while to realize it, but... A good place to get started is by clicking that "Help" button on the left side of the page. (Especially the "Editing Wikipedia" section). From there you should have no trouble finding out what these things are. If you need any specific assistance, feel free to contact me. Prodego talk 01:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for answering. We will check that out and furthermore we will consider asking you for help in our Wikiprojects. Talk to you soon. Belen Rios 00:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to Mentors and Students

[edit]

Please remember to do all communication concerning work related to the course on this discussion page. It is the only page I can monitor and give students credit for doing their work. Thank you!!! Thelmadatter 14:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mentoring

[edit]

I am offering myslef for conscription to aid in this cause of yours. In simppler terms, I'd like to be your mentor. ¿SFGiДnts! ¿Complain! ¿Analyze! ¿Review! 03:24, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for discussion

[edit]

The three contributions that students need to do next partial (~October) is to significantly edit an article, create a stub and translate an article from English Wikipedia for Spanish Wikipedia. For more information, see the Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus page. As the members of this group are from South America, they will need your help to find the appropriate Wikiproject pages to work from. I have the Wikiproject pages for Mexico on the navigation bar but that would most likely not be of their interest. Thank you! Thelmadatter 14:08, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For various reasons it is important that you make sure you are logged in when you edit. On that edit, you were not logged in, which will make it harder for your teacher to keep track of you. So make sure you log in. And now for the question. I am afraid I don't understand what you are saying, I don't understand what you mean by "anglo(? as in anglo) universities (possessive? do you mean university's?) studentes(students?) or some cntacts (contacts?) from anglo (again) universities (and again)" Also "carrees"? What does this mean? Prodego talk 00:41, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comments, i think i used the wrong word, i meant universities from america, canada or any country that speaks english.... students, contacts and careers where typing mistakes... I was asking, how to contact people from the wikicomunity that study in american universities.

Sofia

Well we don't really have departments, people research and add whatever they want. So it will be largely your job to find out about your topic, and then write an article, in the same way you would research a paper that you needed to write. Users do categorize themselves sometimes, and there is a Category:Wikipedian college students. But you should not use Wikipedia to research your topic though. You need to work off of secondary sources. Directly talking to someone would be getting info from a primary source. If you have any questions, let me know. Prodego talk 18:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the board I wrote to check out Category:Wikipedians by alma mater to find Wikipedians who attend/recently attended a school you are interested in. Prodego, this is for a separate assignment where they are supposed to investigate a masters level program they might like to attend after graduation. Thelmadatter 00:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I was wondering exactly what was being asked of me. All I had to go on was this, and I didn't quite get the context of the request. Is there some page where the current projects are explained? This doesn't seem to be in the syllabus. Prodego talk —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 00:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didnt put that particular assignment on Wikipedia because it is not really a Wikipedia assignment. They are supposed to look into a foreign (non Latin American) masters program in their field and one of the things they are supposed to find out about is student life. Since Wikipedia can categorize users by alma mater, I suggested they could find current students of the university they are interested in that way. Thelmadatter 19:57, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

mentoring thanks gone astray

for your note. Uh, actually, I think your mentor is User:SFGiants. Nice thought though. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 12:44, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I am. Wikipedia:School and university projects/ITESM Campus Toluca/Mentors. But you (FTS) should feel free to contact whomever you would like to. Prodego talk 20:52, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Mentoring

[edit]

I would be happy to help you. What do you need me to help with. Also, I can't mentor full time. Sorry!!! Tobi4242 22:01, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how many editors watch the talk page of the Latin America portal, since the portal has not been maintained for almost a year. However, I added links to your proposal in a couple of places, and I hope you will soon get a response.-gadfium 01:46, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-Hispanic

There were several codices about history, religion, tribute’s administration, cartography (maps) from XVI century. Also the codices were images. For example: Tlacotepec, codice de Xilotepec, codice de Tezcoco-Acampan. (A., M., Ramón) There were different ethnic groups like otomies, matlazincas, mazahuas, chichimecas, etc. (A., M., Ramón) Some of the more important emperors were Cuauhtitlan, Tezozomoc, Azcapotzalco, Tlalmanalco, Opochihuacan and Xaltocan.(H.,P., Carlos) Toluca was conquered by the Mexicas. The Mexicas had to fight against Azcapotzalco. Colonial Period.

In the first Spaniard’s incursions to the State of Mexico were leads by Andrés de Tapia. Who in 1520 destroyed the population of Malinalco. Later Gonzálo de Sandoval arrived to Toluca’s Valley and put down to the Matlazincas. Because the Matlazincas were allied with the Aztecs. After the fell of the Aztec empire some mazahuas were recluted to rebuild Tenochtitlán. The evangelization began at 1523 in Texcoco by the monk Pedro de Gante. Who funded the Padua’s school. In 1524 came the first religion order conformed by the franciscanos monks.(Zárate, B.) When Cortez arrived the conditios of the pilitical situation were on his side. HELP

[edit]

Hi mentors! We need help because right now we are doing our final project for our english class. We have to write an article for wikipidia. We are trying to search for a good topic to write our article, but it has been difficult. Another option is to look for a stub and expand on it. Could anyone advise us what we should write about? Thank you. Alorenz 19:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stub

[edit]

Hello ITESM students, your stub is quite good. I have one suggestion for you, you may want to create wikilinks for the notable people section. Regards, Neranei (talk) 19:40, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Amecameca, it looks pretty good. A few things:

  • Here you want bullets. To do that, use *.
  • Why is Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz mentioned up top, in the intro?
  • You say "Amecameca" a lot, perhaps remove some of them.
  • Notable people should qualify where they were. Notable people born there? Who live there? What?
  • Saying "Trading is the most important activity of the municipality" isn't a good sentance. Firstly, because "trading" suggests bartering, and because the sentence it self is a little unclear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prodego (talkcontribs) 21:18, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Amecameca is a great idea. You could help fix it up and add a picture or two. Tobi4242 21:57, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just quickly skimmed over the page. It looks fairly good. Do you have a picture that could improve the article? (I know you're studying English, but...) themcman1 talk 16:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
