Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Morocco
Thank you all for agreeing to mediation. My name is ^demon and I will be your mediator for this case. If at any point you have any questions about the mediation, the process, or anything in general, do not hesitate to ask here, via my talk page, or using my e-mail link. I would like us to begin by addressing the concerns that have been raised on the mediation page, in that this dispute appears to have been already mediated, with only a small holdout to consensus. Could I get everyone's opinions on this? -^demon[yell at me] 02:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Demon I'll just give you a spanshot of the case as I have seen it since coming in at the RfC stage. This started as a debate (cough) between Justin and Svzest who after shooting back and forth of a couple of months put the notice on RfC. At this stage 7 users, including myself, Justin and Svzest put in a submission of either a map with no colour in the Western Sahara region (Justin proposal) or a map with green cross-hatches over Western Sahara (Svzest proposal and also the status quo).
Asterion came into the debate at this stage with a third proposal of Westers Sahara having light green colouring instead of dark green like Morocco. This proposal was shot down. Then A Jaili came into the debate with a fiery attidtue appently from previous comfinations with Justin. Once this happened any productive discission stopped for 3 weeks in which time Yasser came into the arguement supporting the sprited map. Then a group of netural users came into the debate all of whom supported the sprited map, however none of them made more than two or three comments.
After another two weeks Justin called for a vote to settle the matter. The vote went 3 to 9 or 10 the way of the sprited map but Justin did not accpet the vote of some strange reason, even if everyone else did (include netrual users who didn't vote). It is also important to note that Justin contested the removal of disputed templates off the Morocco page directly after the vote when the majorty was well known.
