can we make this a disambiguation page for MediaWiki_feature_request_and_bug_report_discussion, wikipedia:requests for page protection, wikipedia:requests for adminship, and some other stuff? Green Mountain 19:33, 3 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Wording

Instead of saying "New articles", "New images", and "New templates", can it say "Requested ______"? — Bob • (talk) • 04:59, August 2, 2007 (UTC)

Merge

Please see a merge discussion thread, at Template talk:WP nav pages (header bar). Thanks. --Quiddity 17:25, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

How to claim a REQUEST for "Removal of Redirection" ?

I am missing a possibility of how to "REQUEST Removal of Redirection".

As an example you can see the history of the Delete page, there are already some tries to cancel the redirect:

REQUEST Removal of Redirection and writing the
...Delete page, Delete is unique and used as a unique word. IE the delete button on key boards.

Another request for "Removal of Redirection" I want to claim is the {{Br}} redirected to {{-}}... see the talk.

So my question is: How/where can request the "redirection removal"? Where is such process described? Thanks! --Franta Oashi (talk) 21:32, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I tried to find the proper page (Wiki, Google) with querries like "Requested+redirect", but no clue. :( If such page already exists (I do not believe), then I have to ask for enhancement of its categorization. --Franta Oashi (talk) 21:38, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Try listing the item at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. You could also try asking at the Wikipedia:Help desk or Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests. -- œ 23:51, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Requests for Canadian articles

I just found out that my Requests for Canadian articles has been quietly removed

I understand that "we shouldn't be favoring Canada over all others", however, the current system does not entice or encourage more wikipedia participation by Canadians (and other non-Americans). Requests for Canadian content get lost in the system. Ottawahitech (talk) 03:48, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

You have a good point, and being Canadian myself I sympathize, but Wikipedia is an international project, as you know, and WP:REQUESTS being a 'top-level' help portal, really can't be highlighting just one country. But there are other options.. Did you know about the regional requested articles page? Also, maybe you could post a notice encouraging Canadian participation at the community bulletin board? And of course there's the WikiProject Canada banner ad which can draw attention. That gives me an idea actually.. I wonder if there exists some kind of centralized WP:Requests for support page where Wikipedians can post requests such as "WikiProject Canada needs support" and the like.. Could be something to put up at WP:VPR? Just a thought.. -- œ 11:04, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the links - will check them when time permits. I also found some Canadian (and other) stats which may be of interest to readers: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(miscellaneous)#Some_Stats_about_Wikipedia_BLPs Ottawahitech (talk) 21:21, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Shucks, looks like my careful link to the specific statistics no longer points where I intended it to, Too bad. I thought this was an encyclopedia, not a flavor-of-the-day collection of links that disappear in short notice? Ottawahitech (talk) 14:36, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
It still points to the same section, it just got archived, as is standard procedure for talk pages. Unfortunately talk page archiving causes some links to go stale, however they can easily be updated. Your link can now be found at Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous)/Archive 24#Some Stats about Wikipedia BLPs. -- œ 01:10, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

This user has been blocked and was spamming[1]. No reliable sources have been proposed (and I did a quick Google search which didn't come up with anything.) A request for an advert will be denied, as Wikipedia is not a business directory. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 15:46, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Recent overhaul by IP

I feel the page is much better organized and less cluttered the way it is now. Furthermore, this page should deal solely with requests pages, and should not be yet another help page directory, the IP's changes basically turned it into another WP:Department directory or WP:Questions. It is much more helpful the way it is currently. -- œ 13:21, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

I would like to add information about Sir Siremal Bapna and P.S. Bapna

I am a distant relative of these two gentlemen. As as a student of history, I do believe that no history of Indore is complete without mentioning them and their actions in Indore. They both are major historical figures in Indore. I have references such as indpendent book sources and newspaper sources to verify this information.

Any comments ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rbapna1 (talkcontribs) 19:38, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

New Article

Hi, I started a new articles named India in WW1, but cant advance any more, can you please write this? The link is- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/India_in_World_War_I#cite_note-1

My main problem is I dont know how to give references properly. I can write it, but hence I cant give references properly then it will be not verificable.

I have written the introduction a bit, I guess it needs expansion. There will be 4 total main sections(with exception of introduction): 1) Indian Position: Explaining stances of various Indian political parties, including Congress, their conditions. 2) Indian contribution- this will have 3 sub sections- British Indian army involvement, Economic help from India(describing how many food was sent to troops as ration etc) 3) Impact of war: Describing War impact on Indian civil life, food shortage and 1918 Epidemic, price rise. 4) Revolutionary activities mentioning Gadar Conspiracy and Hindu-German Conspiracy with mentioning of Komagata Maru incident, Rash Bihari Bose, Bagha Jatin and 1915 Singapore Indian mutiny. These are only my suggestions. Thank you.Ovsek (talk) 16:52, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Page revamp

I have been bold and made this simple list into a descriptive directory - please check for spelling and grammar. Pls double check disruptions are correct and nothing is missing.Moxy (talk) 14:53, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Your updates look fantastic. Much thanks for all that.
(Note: If you, or anyone, can think of ways to merge/redirect some of the items currently in the {{Header navbar community}} (and in {{Help pages header}}), that would be a huge-step in the right direction. I can barely find my way around all the duplication, and I've been reading/editing the damn things for years. (See also: Wikipedia talk:Community portal#Navbar - utterly replaced - new one needs watchlisting)) –Quiddity (talk) 22:39, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
We did have one Template:WP nav pages (header bar) but i guess because it is locked Template:Header navbar community was created to avoid having to ask for assistance - it was then added/replaced the old one. I have no problem with a merger.Moxy (talk) 23:27, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I meant a merge of the pages that are listed.
(Merging the navbars themselves, might be an idea in the future, but there needs to be a vast reduction in items for that. More than 8 items, and a navbar is overwhelming for anyone who isn't already familiar with each of the items' contents).
(The editor who made the replacement knows perfectly well how to use {editprotected} templates, but tends to avoid drafting/discussing changes first... He's had numerous trouts for it, over the years.) - We can fix that too, but reducing the sheer quantity of "Directories" is the primary problem, which I'm a bit baffled by. –Quiddity (talk) 02:52, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Oh I see what your saying - I created Help:Contents/Directory this past year and have come to the same conclusion - agree lots of different types of duplications all over not just directories, but yes directories like Wikipedia:Questions and Wikipedia:Requests should be merged. So should pages like Wikipedia:New contributors' help page merged with Wikipedia:How to help. There is also lots of overlap with things like Wikipedia:Plain and simple and Wikipedia:A Primer for newcomers let alone the tutorials Wikipedia:Introduction and Wikipedia:Tutorial and Wikipedia:Training/Newcomers/Welcome.Moxy (talk) 03:59, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Page looks great Moxy! Hmm, I still don't see why having multiple ways to find help is a bad thing. It's basically just following links anyway when it comes to these directory pages. -- œ 12:29, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
The problems with overlap/redundancy are mostly:
  1. Initially overwhelming for newcomers - Imagine arriving at a crossroads with 8 (or 20) roads leading away from it.
  2. Confusing after the first visit - Imagine trying to find "that useful page I saw last month, which had links to things about deletion". There are a few dozen places they might be looking for (any of which might be incomplete/out-of-date).
As with most things at Wikipedia (and in life) it's all about balancing simplicity with complexity. No balance will ever be perfect, for all visitors, but we need to avoid the extremes. –Quiddity (talk) 19:43, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
