Please comment on afd discussion

The article Pedro Perebal has an afd discussion in which some editors are claiming that it falls in WP:BIO1E. Your input in said discussion is appreciated. Thinker78 (talk) 04:23, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

This person has never held political office, but has qualified as notable. WP:POLITICIAN implies that candidates who have never held even state office won't qualify as notable. This rule appears to apply regardless of other coverage. I'd like to suggest that the wording of the WP:POLITICIAN section be changed a bit to reflect the fact that WP:POLITICIAN is a premise under which a person can qualify for an article, not a premise under which a person, any person, can have an article deleted (as has been done several times here in the past, and continues to be done). Ocasio-Cortez is notable. Absolutely. And so are all political candidates, all people, that attract discussion in multiple reliable secondary published sources. Editors need to be reminded of this fact and to stop using WP:POLITICIAN, by itself, as justification for deletion of such articles. I know the text already says this. I also know that the text is routinely ignored. And I know that pointing this out will get an editor banned. 2602:306:CD92:4960:C081:7EA1:3EF4:99CB (talk) 03:55, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

There is a discussion about the notability of Mike Galsworthy. --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 14:40, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
