Group Spokenword Project

Hi Group, Let's read the AIDS page for the Spoken Wikipedia Project. A good friend of mine thought of this idea in order to increase the access to the valuable information to this page.

Please use the version above so that we are all reading from the same version. Also, this way we will attach this version to our audio file.
Tips: go slow. "use your best midwestern newscaster voice". don't worry if you messup in the middle, just start over without stopping the recording, we can cut the mistake out later. If you are starting a section, read the section header and then pause.
Sign your name next to the section you will record, and we will combine all of the sections and make a large file. Please place the date you finished your section.

Greetings - I'm one of the coordinators for this year's Hackathon at Wikimania 2012. I was wondering if The U of M Wikimedians group might be interested in hosting a Hackathon at The U beforehand to perhaps try out some new ideas. I just received the following message on my user talk page (and saw that many of you did as well) from James Heilman, MD: Recently did a major update of HIV/AIDS. Wikipedia Takes America

Is there any interest among the club to participate in the Wikipedia Takes America event that is occurring throughout the month of September? We're right here in Ann Arbor (at least some of us) and it should be fairly easy to coordinate Commons photo hunts, even if they are informal and/or individual outings. I know Ann Arbor is already well-covered on Wikipedia, but there have to be blind spots that we can help cover this month if other club members are interested in this idea. What do you think? WiR at the Ford Presidential Library

The rumors are true! Michael Barera has been named the FIRST EVER Wikipedian in Residence at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum. We are THRILLED to welcome him and have him guide us as we move our project forward. He begins on or around January 1, 2013.

His internship represents a new partnership between the University of Michigan's School of Information and the Ford Library/NARA.

I'll send you links to the PR that gets generated. Thanks to Chris Leeder for suggesting this to me.

It is my intention to make this a multi-semester internship...just sayin'!
