Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Writing women into Wikipedia IAP workshop - MIT
Welcome
[edit]This is the talk page for the Writing women into Wikipedia IAP workshop at MIT from Jan 12 - 15, 2015. Please note some of the contributors to this workshop/edit-a-thon will be new to Wikipedia. I will be overseeing their contributions throughout the week to make sure they comply with Wikipedia standards. Also as a disclosure, I work in MIT's news office, but we plan not to focus on biographies of current MIT affiliates. To teach participants how to use library resources, some images of MIT alumni or former affiliates may be added to Commons and/or Wikipedia. Please feel free to get in touch with my on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns. Girona7 (talk) 22:46, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
Day 2 update/plans
[edit]Hi all! As a reminder, we are meeting from 6-8 today, not 7-9 (tho I'm happy to stay longer if ppl like). If you can bring ideas of one of two ladies you might consider creating a Wiki page for, that would be great — or any other ideas for a project to work on for the rest of the workshop. Lastly, please note that last night was a special treat so you'll need to bring your own food/snacks if you want to nosh. See you later! Hey--I'm planning to join tonight but will run a bit late in lab. Cheers! Pyriquin (talk) 22:42, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Day 3 update/plans
[edit]Hi everyone! Great seeing your work so far on all of your new/revised articles. I've left comments for each of you who had updates in your sandbox on your sandbox talk page. Today we will go over details about adding images and I will help you troubleshoot/add more content on the way to publishing articles/additions either late today or first thing at tomorrow's class. Be prepared to show everyone else your work for team feedback! (cc: Rtbhive, Pyriquin, Annexxenna, Rlenehan, Malba490, thinkdoc) Girona7 (talk) 21:15, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Day 4 update/plans
[edit]Happy Wikipedia Day! Today the site turns 14. Let's celebrate this and the end of our IAP session by adding our collective additions after we've discussed best practices for making your new article go live. If you worked on multiple articles, we will look at those as well and add everything to the "results" section of our event page.
