Next meetup date

[edit]

I suggest Sunday March 22 might be a good meetup date. Thoughts?--Pharos (talk) 00:05, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Works for me. Sam Blab 01:53, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Work for me. :( iMatthew // talk // 01:58, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me Juliancolton (talk) 02:54, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can meet on that date. Gosgood (talk) 11:11, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
*citing my usual inability not to know my calendar so far ahead* but I think it could work StarM 18:40, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay for me, at least tentatively. Newyorkbrad (talk) 19:53, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep that works for me as well. --Mblumber (talk) 21:36, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Won't be able to make it i come home on the 27th anything possible for after that date ? Staffwaterboy Critique Me Guestbook Hate Comments 21:22, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to make it, but a week later might be much better for me. DGG (talk) 17:18, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Anything the 28th or 29th is really bad news for me ;) Sam Blab 21:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know you had it scheduled! Mazel Tov! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 04:29, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see some faces show up that haven't yet attended one of the meetups. If changing the date to a later one would encourage any of those, that would be my suggestion. However, the 22nd and most Sundays work for me. — Becksguy (talk) 05:24, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Works for me -- Y not? 14:31, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I think we might shift to March 29, because it will be easier to arrange the Columbia room. Plus, it gives us an extra week to organize.--Pharos (talk) 21:28, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me, as I can't attend either one this time. Sam Blab 23:27, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well. Now at least I don't feel guilty about your Bar Mitzvah. Mazel Tov! from me too, BTW--Pharos (talk) 00:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you guys, this means a lot. :-) Sam Blab 12:05, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The 29th would be a much better date,

Side note: I never been to any of this meetup what exactly do you do when we are here also im kinda very shy and nervouse about meeting ppl who i don't know espcially online.

At NYC meetups, we tend to talk about a combination of Wikipedia-related topics and topics related to Wikimedia NYC as an organization. The topic is usually suggested by attendees. :-) Sam Blab 20:54, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At most meet-ups, people hang around and have a meal and talk about Wikipedia. The New York meet-ups usually have a business meeting and presentations before the social part. Newyorkbrad (talk) 21:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to be shy. This is nothing like meeting some weird person from the internet. This is like meeting twenty weird people from the internet :) So, seriously, it's nothing high pressure, just people sitting around a table and talking about their favorite GFDL-licensed encyclopedia. We have some videos of the presentation sections (not the whole meetups) online here. Hope to see you at the next one!--Pharos (talk) 23:14, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I was quite unsure of my first meet up, having only interacted with two from the group prior to the meet up, and I really enjoyed it. SWB, this is a great group, they will make you feel welcome. StarM 01:03, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will try my best to make it im really excited and nervous...at the same time but i guess it sounds really cool. And people seem to be nice :)

ps: Sorry to hear that you can't make it Sam.

Cheers,

Toolserver

[edit]

I am interested in talking with people about my tools (usability and interest). What people know about the Toolserver, bots, and edit assist programs. Finally, what people would like in tools, scripts, and templates to assist them in accomplishing their tasks. — Dispenser 03:44, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dispenser, it will be great if you can lead a talk on this. I hope we can also have opportunities for others who are interested in presenting their ideas and questions, and I hope more folks will sign up to do so on the front side of this page.--Pharos (talk) 20:25, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you have some thoughts on the Wikipedia:Geonotice tool also, which is finally on track to return, and I think will be a great boon to our future meetings. I look forward to seeing you folks this afternoon.--Pharos (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didn't make it

[edit]

Hey guys - I just got off the red eye flight at 7:00 a.m. yesterday from Israel, where I was photographing for Wikimedia. I had planned to try to make it to the meeting, but alas, was just too tired and my cognizcent time was spent working on the photography. Sorry I missed you all. --David Shankbone 17:50, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
