- FloNight♥♥♥♥ 16:34, 23 May 2013 (UTC) (Sydney Poore) This is amazing timing! I was thinking about connecting with folks to have a Kentucky meetup in June. Let me know how I can help.
- Terrific! So glad to be able to finally meet you in person! Randolph.hollingsworth (talk) 19:12, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Maybe
- King Bedford I Seek his grace 01:38, 28 May 2013 (UTC) It's tempting, but I haven't been that active on Wikipedia for four years after I was gangraped in July 2008 on WP, and if only two others show up, that isn't much of a meetup.
- Dear King, it was a terrific meetup - you should have come! P.S. I don't think you know what a gangrape really is, or you wouldn't have used that word here. Randolph.hollingsworth (talk) 12:30, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
No, but let me know about future events
- Martinman (talk) 02:29, 24 May 2013 (UTC) Sadly, I will have to work during this time and can't make it from Louisville, but I've love to know about the next one and try to make it then.
- Boneyard90 (talk) 20:34, 2 June 2013 (UTC) Terribly sorry I didn't write here earlier. I live in Columbus, Ohio, and was not able to make it down to Lexington for the weekend. Hope it went well!
Post-Meetup Summary and Outcomes
We had a terrific meeting on Saturday afternoon - it was part of the first THATCampKY (see the list of participant proposals for sessions here http://kentucky2013.thatcamp.org/. Several attendees created accounts and some renewed theirs as Sydney Poore led the demonstration and discussion. There were many different topics covered, including why some content "sticks" and others don't. There were approximately 15 participants from various parts of the state, including from Lexington, Louisville, Morehead and Covington -- and some people came from as far away as Atlanta (Georgia) and Manitoba, Canada. We also spoke in depth on the ethics of open access and crowdsourcing of general knowledge content. One outcome is that Sydney has promised to partner with Morehead State University to offer a professional development session on Wikipedia there later this year.
