I will be adding some old ones, using the timestamps in the page history. I have temporarily changed my time zone to UTC to reduce further confusion. Ardric47 07:07, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Proposed change to process
[edit]I'd like to propose that pages that need to be protected against recreation, instead of being protected with the contents of {{deletedpage}}, generally be protected as a redirect to, say, Wikipedia:Deleted page (which I just created). I think that the advantage of doing this is that it would avoid the negative affects of them counting as articles (showing up in Special:Shortpages, Special:Randompage, etc.). Before I spend a lot of time on this, any comments? Thanks, JYolkowski // talk 23:42, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Not a good idea compared to the {{deletedpage-r}} template. Sometimes people wish to know upfront what the page deletion reason was. Protecting a redirect gives no clue to them. In fact, I also suggest that deletedpage-r can very well make this page obsolete. Kimchi.sg 10:33, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- I like that template, and I think that that template can solve several of the problems of {{deletedpage}}, but it doesn't really solve the problems I'm trying to solve. I guess what I'm wondering now is, how many possible reasons for protecting a page from recreation can there be? If there's only a few main reasons, I don't think it would be a big stretch to create Wikipedia:Deleted page/repeated personal attack, Wikipedia:Deleted page/page frequently created due to newbie error, and so on. - I think making one page in Wikipedia space for each template and redirecting the templates to it is probably the way to go. We don't really need to change the way the deleted pages look, just have some way of marking them in the DB so they don't pollute the random page, or put weird things in the XML feeds. I think as long as all of the protected deleted pages redirect out of the main namesapce, we should be find. Otherwise, this pollution will keep getting worse. -Steve Sanbeg 17:58, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Archiving
[edit]Several pages have already been deleted but are still here. I'd like to archive their discussion by first removing these discussion from here in this way and then producing an archive like User:Paolo Liberatore/Deleted. Any objection? (Liberatore, 2006). 17:42, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Done; archive is Wikipedia:List of pages protected against re-creation/Archive. Some articles remained; some have been left because of an incorrect use of a template, some others because of quotes in the title. All of them will go at the next archivial.
