    WikiProject Epilepsy

    [edit]

It is pertinent to mention that Wikipedia:WikiProject Epilepsy already exists and there are a handful of articles using the tag. The scope of this Wikiproject matches exactly that of the ILAE Wikipedia project. Although currently there are not many people participating, I expect that the ILAE Wikipedia project will soon have active contributors and therefore reviving it should not be a problem. I had proposed the creation of an epilepsy taskforce but if Wikipedia:WikiProject Epilepsy becomes active the same would no longer be needed. In such a case I think that although at one point of time it was proposed that Wikipedia:WikiProject Epilepsy be merged into WP:MED, the same no longer needs to be done and both of them can work collaboratively. Formatting

    [edit]

The pages seem to have a lot of manual HTML coding instead of using Wiki markup. The existing white text for the headings conflicts with people (like me) who may have set light-colored backgrounds for their different heading levels. For example, I'd like to suggest reworking the "Apply" tab at Wikipedia:ILAE Wikipedia Project/Apply to Join to the following, using the standard heading levels 2 and 3 instead of all the HTML divs and h4 tags. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 16:42, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Project-independent quality assessments

    [edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. User:Johnbod at ILAE is an alternative account for User:Johnbod. I will be using this account for edits connected with epilepsy, as I will be working over roughly the next year with the Wikipedia:ILAE Wikipedia Project, which has been running since 2020, aiming to improve the coverage of epilepsy-related articles on Wikipedia and is overseen by the International League Against Epilepsy.

I will be working together with ILAE medical specialists to improve the articles. Please let me know any questions. Johnbod at ILAE (talk) 02:03, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed that you've made a ton of changes to the Epilepsy syndromes article recently. Though the content appears more than fine, it appears that some of the information is being disseminated in an "un-encyclopedic" way. It looks like a couple sections are now displayed as outlines, which can make the information appear abbreviated or incomplete. I can't help format it into a more "wikified" format, though I'm, admittedly, woefully ill-equipped to comment on the substance portion. Just let me know! Epilepsy article updates

    [edit]

    Greetings,

I plan to rework the topics related to causes and diagnosis on the epilepsy page. Specifically, I intend to:

    1. Change the "Causes" section to "Etiology" with the following subtopics:
      • Genetic
      • Structural
      • Metabolic
      • Immune
      • Infectious
    2. Update the "Diagnosis" section to incorporate the new ILAE classification framework as outlined in the Position Paper of the ILAE Commission for Classification and Terminology by Scheffer et al.

I believe these changes will align with the most current understanding and classification of epilepsy. Please let me know if this approach makes sense and if there are any considerations I should be aware of before proceeding.

    Thank you for your feedback!
