When I tried to save this page, I was blocked by the spam filter ( http : // www . infoweb . co . nz - spaces added so that the spam filter didn't block this page too!). That wasn't the link I was trying to add! Brianjd 05:46, 2004 Dec 12 (UTC)
- That's because that link was already listed on the page, which effectively made the page uneditable. I've removed it, which should now allow you to add your link. -- Hadal 05:56, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- It appears to be a valid entry though. That site does link to Wikipedia. Brianjd 06:00, 2004 Dec 12 (UTC)
- When I said "That wasn't the link I was trying to add!" I was indicating that the design of the spam filter should be improved. Currently the only way to get my changes in myself (without an admin) would be to remove the link, but what if it's valid? Brianjd 06:01, 2004 Dec 12 (UTC)
- The spam regex blocks URLs listed on it project-wide; we'll just have to assume good faith by assuming the URL really was spammed and was thus properly blocked. Only a developer can add a URL to the regex, and devs make a habit of being trustworthy people. While the URL might technically qualify simply because they link back to us, they're obviously not our friend if they've been spamming us, eh? -- Hadal 06:43, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- So developers are trustworthy! They're also human. Humans make mistakes. Different sites run by different people can have the same URL at different points in time. Different people can have different opinions on this. Why isn't there an easy way of bypassing this for now, and having the page/URL reviewed later?
If I assume good faith, we may be missing a friend of wikipedia. If it is removed from regex, I will probably have forgotten about the link I wanted to add. Brianjd 09:57, 2004 Dec 29 (UTC)
