Is the insertion of Wikilinks into SVGs a possibility? I read on Inkscape's website that you can add links. --Seans Potato Business 01:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, SVGs can display links or special functions, but :
  1. All web browser don't understand SVG images ;
  2. So, Wikipedia first convert our SVGs into PNGs to display them on Wikipedia ;
  3. Accordingly, add special function to our SVG (i.e. links, SVG animations, clic-on functions, ...) are currently useless.

There exist templates to overlay links onto images. 68.39.174.238 (talk) 21:04, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can look at this section for animated SVG. For links, I seen it (some website are totally in SVG, but 70% of the internauts can't view them -___-" because they use I.E..), but never on wikipedia. Yug 12:18, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Somehow, the EasyTimeline extension embeds links (I think in an overlay), but I can't figure out how. Anybody got advice that's in English? Dhatfield (talk) 17:14, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why not SVG?

[edit]

When IE9 comes out this year, all desktop (and most mobile) browsers will be able to render SVG natively.[1] The non-Microsoft browsers have been able to do so for years. Why does Wikipedia still insist on showing blurry pixel renderings if the vector version is available and usable now?--94.222.127.116 (talk) 13:26, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SVG Help volunteers needed

[edit]

Awhile back the one user who maintained WP:SVG Help (a board dedicated to helping users with SVG image questions and problems) retired. They marked the board as 'no longer maintained' and left forever. However, the board was very active and there's no problem with the concept of it. I've restored it to its previous version and marked it as inactive, but if anyone familiar with SVGs is willing to help out and watch the page, then we can get the board moving again. How to get a list of all .svg files on Wikipedia.org and commons.wikimedia.org?

How to get a list of all .svg files on Wikipedia.org and commons.wikimedia.org?

Hi!

I do have a very slow internet connection. Nonetheless it would be fast enough to download a list of the files I'm looking for: I want a list of all .svg files on Wikipedia.org and commons.wikimedia.org. (And later on after that of all svg-files on the other wikipedia and wikimedia pages.)

But my internet connection is not fast enough to find the right search-words by trial and error: It's absolutly tedious to do trial-and-error with 64kbit/sec.

Could anyone point me to the right page on wikipedia or commons.wikimedia where I could start such a search and which keywords and settings to use?
