DYK=7?
[edit]More points for a DYK than for getting a short articles expanded to GA or FA sounds unbalanced to me. I'd suggest cribbing a little from the points scheme of the WP:WikiCup - they've had to hammer that out over years. ϢereSpielChequers 22:50, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm just signing up today, but I'll comment anyway. I helped to design the Derby project which had a similar points system to this. The reason there for not rating GAs and FAs vastly high was that in most other languages Wikipedia really needs more articles, good and well-documented but short and cogent. A focus on very long and very high-quality articles is a distraction from that, and favours a small Wikipedian elite that knows how to jump over the hurdles. In my view this was why the British Museum challenge didn't get many articles created, though it did produce some extremely good ones.
- The score for DYKs is a new thing (to me), but I can see the reason for it. It gets Monmouth pages on to the front page of the Wikipedias, and that's certainly something well worth aiming for. Andrew Dalby 14:59, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok, prizes will be awarded in April, but how long will the challenge run? Until the March 31? Some other date? Of course, I have noticed people don't like to answer questions around here, but I have nowhere else to ask. --Oop (talk) 20:29, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hello? Anybody? --Oop (talk) 19:36, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see an answer to this. I'll go and ask User:Victuallers. Andrew Dalby 15:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, I have just seen an answer, on the banner that was circulated to other Wikipedias. The detail given there is "the Challenge will run until 19th April". As to whether it's 00:00 on 19th April, or 23:59 on 19th April (believe me, this will become important) Victuallers had better specify, I think. I will ask. Andrew Dalby 15:06, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
Ive just talked to Victuallers in Berlin and he says that it will close at midnight on the 19th April. (The one at the end of the day). He apologises and says do post questions on his talk page if you are ignored. Ah, and he says he would appreciate any help in counting the points. --Oop (talk) 09:34, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
