Wikipedia talk:Fully Uncompelled Binding Administrator Recall
adminship should be revoked by building consensus on WP:CSN (or by arbcom of course). Either something is voluntary, or it isn't. I would welcome making this sort of thing compelling for all admins, with suitable conditions to forestall trolling and bad faith "recalls". I am myself "open to recall", however I take the liberty to specify the circumstances of a valid "recall",
- "good standing" shall mean 500 mainspace edits excluding revert-warring *and* a block log clean of recent blocks for blatant abuse or trolling. I will be prepared to re-apply on the suggestion of a *single* editor whom I recognize as a valuable and sane contributor.
I am often up to my neck in disputes with people shouting "admin abuse" in my general direction, but so far nobody has even tried to "recall" me. The record shows that the process works, but so far has resulted only in a single two month's withdrawal of adminship. I suggest that there is no reason that any admin should not submit to have his buttons withdrawn upon CSN consensus, so the easiest way to do this is putting a note at CSN that "sanctions" can take any form, including blocks, revert restrictions, admin recall, or various paroles (such as, this admin shall not block anyone for such-and-such a time, but is free to keep his delete button, as the case may require). --dab (𒁳) 13:57, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- CSN has the power to lay out topic bans and even outright bans on admins. If the problem is with behavior treat them as a regular user, if the problem is with the tools and desysoping is really needed then arbcom is there, after dispute resolution has been attempted and credible evidence based on policy is provided, and arbcom is convinced of the necessity of the action.
