Suggestion
[edit]Perhaps provide examples of what types of incidents would fall under this category? Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 17:04, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, yeah. That would definitely make things more clear. нмŵוτнτ 17:38, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- More clear, but that would make it troll bait. Some of the things that fall under the category of actual emergencies can be faked in posts. We don't want to encourage drama. I'll be glad to discuss this offline with any reasonable editor who contacts me. DurovaCharge! 02:13, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the move request was: moved. And the consensus is that WP:FIRE and WP:Fire should redirect to Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Service. Jenks24 (talk) 11:28, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Fire → Wikipedia:Fire (essay) – WP:Fire should redirect to the same page as WP:FIRE. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 10:03, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose WikiProject shortcuts, and indeed all shortcuts, are supposed to be capitalized only. And Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Service would seem to have a better claim on "FIRE" than the project you're talking about Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Protection -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 05:45, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Shortcut#How_to_use_a_Wikipedia_shortcut the standard behavior is that when you type a lowercase version of the shortcut into the search-box, it's supposed to lead to the all-caps shortcut. The essay's use of this title brakes that convection.
- Also, what has the best claim to WP:FIRE, unless it would be this essay, is a different issue. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 16:02, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. Given theat WPFP is semi-active, I wonder if WPFS would be interested in assimilating them. --BDD (talk) 17:10, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

- Weak support I'm definitely supportive of WP:FIRE and WP:Fire to the same place, and I tentatively prefer Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Protection (where there's already a hatnote) as a destination. While the WikiProject is only semi-active, it dates back to June 2006—the essay to October 2007. If we were having this discussion five years ago, it would be cut and dried to make the move as requested, but as such, I think it could go either way. Since the essay doesn't get used much, I think the move as requested is the best course of action. --BDD (talk) 17:10, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- CommentI think we're getting off topic here. The point of this RM is to discuss weather WP:Fire should be freed up to point to the same location as WP:FIRE, not where WP:FIRE should target. Let's keep this RM focused on weather to free up, WP:Fire. As for WP:FIRE's target, take that to WP:RFD (or wherever that discussion should go), or just retarget it; whatever's appropriate.
