God of War is an action-adventure game franchise. Sony's Santa Monica Studio developed all the main entries, released on the PlayStation 2, 3, and 4 video game consoles by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The story follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior who was tricked into killing his family by the Greek god of war Ares. God of War (2005), God of War II (2007), and God of War III (2010) comprise the original trilogy centered on vengeance; other games include Chains of Olympus (2008) and Ghost of Sparta (2010) for the PlayStation Portable, Betrayal (2007) for mobile phones, and Ascension (2013). A main title based on Norse mythology, also called God of War (2018), centers on redemption, with future games in this setting planned. The series has received numerous awards, including Game of the Year recognitions for the 2005 and 2018 installments. As of May 2019, the franchise has sold over 32 million games worldwide. JDC808, I'll repeat my spiel for anyone peeking in: thoughts and edits (up to 1025 characters total) are welcome. There's no rush; this hasn't been scheduled at TFA yet. This batch finishes up blurbs for FACs promoted in 2016. - Dank (push to talk) 14:00, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Made some edits to make things more correct. I know the previous God of War TFA blurb was posted as a possible listing for this coming March, but this would be better as this year is the 15th anniversary of the franchise (the first game was released on March 22, 2005, and it's already been a TFA, which was on its 10th anniversary 5 years ago). --JDC808 ♫ 15:55, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, that makes sense, I'll swap it out at TFAP. In blurbs in general, but especially in video game blurbs, overlinking and unnecessary repetition comes across to some readers as promotional, so I'm going to get rid of some of the repetition, and the "new era" hyperbole ... otherwise, that looks great. - Dank (push to talk) 16:07, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- A little confused on the comment about "overlinking and repetition" as there were neither in my edits (maybe a minor repetition of "main" for clarification, but no overlinking for sure). --JDC808 ♫ 06:48, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Your edit is fine, I have no objection. The problem was mentioned in my edit summary: "repetition (PlayStation, PS3)". In an article lead, it's not a problem at all, but blurbs tend to be tighter than that; I didn't think we needed a 4th link that included the word "Playstation", when we already have Playstation 2, 3 and 4 linked. - Dank (push to talk) 13:20, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- That link I had added for PlayStation was to the brand itself, not a specific console like the other ones. --JDC808 ♫ 22:40, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
