[edit]Another of these noun plus -ings that I've been seeing everywhere lately: "With the Terps starting on their own 20-yard line".
- I still haven't heard an explanation of what "noun plus -ing" is supposed to mean. Can you explain what is grammatically incorrect? Do you mean a change in tense? That has been fixed.
"and Maryland tight end Dan Gronkowski returned it eight yards to the Maryland 44." I don't think it's a good idea to end a sentence with a number like this. Might want to add the yard line bit that is used in other places.
- Changed.
Second quarter: "and played the rest of the game noticeably favored his uninjured side." The tense of "favored" should be changed to "favoring".
- Fixed.
Third quarter: "Kaepernick then passed to wide receiver Mike McCoy for 38 yards to the Maryland 27." Same complaint as my second comment above.
- Changed.
Fourth quarter: "Maryland punted it away on fourth and 11."
- Changed.
- I refined it further. Giants2008 (17-14) 03:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hidden templates, like the scoring summary here, cause accessibility problems. Apparently, Wikipedia mirrors have trouble with them. Giants2008 (17-14) 00:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not trying to be flippant, but who cares about mirror sites? Is there a policy or guideline that mandates ease of mirroring? I also don't see anything about collapsing tables in WP:ACCESS. In fact, the main gist of WP:ACCESS is that articles should be made as simple to read and navigate as possible, which is the very purpose of using the collapsing table for the scoring summary. I understand a large amount of templates can cause loading problems, but that shouldn't be the case in this article. There are 21 templates used in the article, while there are twice that (42) used on the Wikipedia main page.
- Thanks for the remarks. Strikehold (talk) 01:48, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
I'll ask Sandy about the template.Giants2008 (17-14) 15:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- No need. Found this at MOS:SCROLL: "Scrolling lists and boxes that toggle text display between hide and show are acceptable in infoboxes and navigation boxes, but should never be used in the article prose or references, because of issues with readibility, accessibility, and printing." Doesn't say anything about mirrors, but I swear Sandy said something about them at a recent FAC (can't remember which one). Maybe it has to do with accessibility; I'm really not sure at this point. - Alright. Changed.
(undent) Final (short) round:
Maryland statistical recap: "Four Maryland backups who saw significant play due to the suspensions also scored touchdowns". I'd change "play" to "playing time" and remove "also".- Changed.
"Egekeze missed all five of his first field goal attempts." A shade awkward. Try "Egekeze missed his first five field goal attempts."- Changed.
Post-game effects: The teams' final records would be a nice addition, and would help expand what is currently a short section. The other bowl FAs have final team records.Giants2008 (17-14) 17:20, 31 January 2009 (UTC)- Added.
