Stub Article Ideas
[edit]Hi all, I began this thread as a place to suggest stub articles for classmates.
In my reading for the course I have found several stub articles that are relevant to the course but that I won't necessarily pursue as my Wikipedia article. I have listed them below. Please feel free to add other stub articles that you come across (unless it is one that you intend to pursue! Keep that one to yourself!) Anything on here is fair game. If you find an article idea on this thread and would like to claim it for your semester project, please move it to the "claimed stubs" at the end of this page, along with your name. Enjoy!
Molecular Biology "Stub" Article Ideas:

Getting some practice!
[edit]Hi everyone, it is my first time working on Wikipedia. I will go ver the training for units 3 and 4 tonight or tomorrow, but I figured I would get some practice with this talk page. Please let me know if you are able to see this and if I posted correctly....lol Just to make sure!
Thank you for posting the ideas above :) Ana Amontei2 (talk) 13:09, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi guys!
Thank you for starting this page to post ideas for our Wikipages! I am currently researching some projects and if I find something interesting I shall add it to our ongoing list.

Successfully attained a new WikiMedia Commons figure!
[edit]Hi crew! For those of you who are having trouble finding photos for your Wikipedia articles, I just wanted to let you guys know how easy it was to get permission to add a Copyrighted Figure to WikiMedia Commons. After I found the figure I wanted to use, I went to the Contact Us section of the site and clicked the "Contact Us" link. I then sent the following email. It got a positive response about 4 hours later:
To Whom it May Concern:
I found your page (http://undsci.berkeley.edu/article/0_0_0/endosymbiosis_07L) while doing research for the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, and thought your image <mito_path.gif> at that URL did an exceptionally good job at showing the difference between Mitochondrial DNA and Nuclear DNA inheritance, and would be well placed in an article I am updating on "Molecular Paleontology". Here is the URL for the article: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_paleontology). I would use the image in the section describing the differences between mtDNA and nuclear DNA in regards to Molecular Paleontology.

- I am actually still awaiting a response from a publisher. I love the letter you provided! It has been really complicated finding images outside wikicommons and I have had some controversy in terms of whether or not it is acceptable. The company I had permission from was actually not in charge of the original copyright! I alerted the publisher and got an initial response of gratitude and now am awaiting the response regarding permissions. It may be less time consuming and less complicated in this occasion to just draw an image! Either you got lucky or I am simply challenged! This has not been my favorite experience. - Oh man sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully they get back to you soon! PaleoBioJackie (talk) 06:10, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- Great job! I'm impressed that you took this initiative. It's a shame that it's often so hard. Klortho (talk) 04:18, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
