Tone and Style
[edit]Just a recommendation, but it seems like this page could benefit from the use of the same tone as WP:CRUFT and WP:LISTCRUFT. It is an essay, of course, and so does not require my input, but those two pages seem much more even-handed than this one. Just a thought. Protonk (talk) 23:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
[edit]As I understand it, a note in my user page was at least partially the inspiration for this essay. It has since been tagged as a proposed merge. I'm personally fine with merging it to cruftcruft. My support is a bit weak, since a multitude of WP Essays has never much bothered me. Good logical organization of the articles, policies, and guidelines (in that order) is what is most important. -Verdatum (talk) 14:20, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Merge as cruft . Sceptre (talk) 14:41, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

- Keep Is there a rule against having an essay here? And merge would mean delete, with just a redirect, wouldn't it? Is there anything you'd actually copy over there? Dream Focus 19:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Support merger as two essentially similar essays. Stifle (talk) 13:36, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Either oppose merge and keep as separate essays (this one is about advice as to not use a generally unhelpful term, whereas the other essay is more a discussion of a phenomenon) or, my preferred solution, delete all essays and pages with "cruft" in them and instead focus on building article!
