Suggestions for new barnstars???
[edit]I have a couple ideas for barnstars if no one minds me saying them:
The Spell Check Barnstar, awarded to users that have many, many minor edits that had to do with fixing spelling errors. (a special version of the Minor Barnstar) The picture for this barnstar could be a dark red star with a big blue check pasted to the middle (a la Microsoft Spelling and Grammar Check symbol).
The Mentor Barnstar, awarded to users that have shown exceptional help, guidance, friendship, and optimism towards other users, while also ultimately educating other users about the ways of Wiki. The picture for this barnstar could be a star with a cell phone pasted in the middle that reads "THX 4 ALL THE HELP!(reply) NP!"
The Global Barnstar, awarded to users who have done numerous exceptional edits on many different global accounts. The picture for this barnstar could be a star fashioned to look like a blue and green world globe.
The Accepted Defeat Barnstar, awarded to users that were in a heated debate with other users over a subject but finally learned and made up for his/her mistakes, with extreme grace and controlled emotion. The picture for this barnstar could be star with a white surrender flag pasted in the middle, with a small smiley face on the star part (partially covered by the flag).
And finally, the Cookie Barnstar, awarded to users that joyously give out cookies to other Wikipedians often. The picture for this barnstar could be fashioned to look like a chocolate chip cookie.
So... do you like any of my ideas? These were ones that I felt needed to be created and have gone overlooked. :) If any of these sound good and will be implemented (or if any cannot be done or are already done), feel free to contact me on my talk page.
Have a great day!--The Wing Dude, Musical Extraordinaire (talk) 22:20, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the idea! I like youк suggestions especially the Cookie Barnstar! Antonu (talk) 06:25, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Duplicate Barnstars
[edit]We appear to have both a "Graphic Designer's Barnstar" and a "Graphic Designer Barnstar", with no appreciable difference between the two in terms of eligibility criteria. Is there some arcane difference between the two, or is it simply that some people prefer one design over the other? In the latter case, would it be possible to set up a single barnstar with a parameter to choose which image to use? --Proginoskes (talk) 19:44, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with you. Perhaps the designer's one is more suitable to keep. extra999 (talk) 13:14, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Link
[edit]Shouldn't there be link to WikiProject instead of link to country? Pelmeen10 (talk) 02:07, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Two new 2.0 barnstars
[edit]We have two new 2.0 barnstars: Industrial and Reviewer's. I also took the liberty of adding the alt code to the templates. VIWS talk 15:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Image help
[edit]Can someone crop this image used in Template:Bollywood Star and Template:Bollywood Barnstar so as to depict only the Barnstar and not its background which is white in color? X.One SOS 11:39, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Proposed addition – The Environmental Barnstar
[edit]Since this barnstar is currently absent from the page, it's likely that most users aren't aware of its existence. It's from WikiProject Environment. Proposing its addition to WP:Barnstars 2.0. Also note that there is currently no environmentally-related barnstar present on the Barnstars 2.0 page whatsoever at this time. Proposed addition:
{{subst:The Environmental Barnstar|message ~~~~|alt}} | The Environmental Barnstar may be awarded to Wikipedians who have made significant contributions towards environment-related articles, raising environmental awareness in Wikipedia, or assisting in Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment.

Barnstar for Hong Kong
[edit]Hong Kong could be considered as a place of its own so I suggest maybe someone can create a Barnstar of National Merit for those who contribute largely to articles related to it. A Barnstar of National Merit may be awarded to an editor who contributes significantly by expanding or improving Wikipedia's coverage of any past or present continent or regional grouping, country, or subnational place such as a province or city. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knight of Gloucestershire (talk • contribs) 15:41, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Québec Barnstar proposal
[edit]As a Québécois Wikipedian I propose the addition of a Barnstar of National Merit for Québec. If anyone has a potential template for this award, or any other comment/suggestion, please let me know. Thanks!

Merge
[edit]Why do these "2.0" pages still exist? The main one has already merged into WP:Barnstars as a table column. Same approach should be taken with:
- WP:Barnstars 2.0/Awards by WikiProject → WP:Awards by WikiProject
- WP:Barnstars 2.0/Barnstar of National Merit → WP:Barnstars/Barnstar of National Merit
and any other such pages. This 2.0 stuff is no longer some experimental work in progress. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:03, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: This seems like a good idea. I don't see any downside, and it is good to consolidate into fewer pages and reduce confusion.(talk) user:Al83tito 04:00, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support: As far as I'm aware, they were just operational sandboxes to easily tell what still didn't have them while they were being created (because having a new, entirely blank column on the main pages would have looked bad). But regardless, they are all complete now, so they ought to be merged together if they aren't already. Mesmerus 📬 📷 06:03, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

Proposed addition – The Fashion Barnstar
[edit]I have created this barnstar for the WikiProject Fashion. Proposing its addition to WP:Barnstars 2.0.

Update BoNM
[edit]I think the list of BoNMs should be updated as many new BoNMs not yet included here now exist at Wikimedia Commons. The list of African states appears to be incomplete and so is the case with the Americas. - Klein Muçi (talk) 03:43, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Proposed Addition - Jainism Barnstar
[edit]I've created a Barnstar 2.0 for the Jainism Award for WP:JAIN. I know the original used the Swastika, 3 dots, and Siddhashila from the Jainism Flag but using the Ahimsa felt like it might be a little less politically charged and is equally appropriate as it's also part of the Jain symbol. The background colors are straight off the Jain flag (yes, the white is supposed to be wider). I've created two different versions, one with a fitted icon and the other an overlapped icon. I'm not terribly invested one against the other. Proposing its addition to WP:Barnstars 2.0.
{{subst:Jainism Award|message ~~~~|alt}} | The Jainism Award may be awarded to Wikipedians who have made significant contributions towards articles related to Jainism, raising awareness in Wikipedia, or assisting in Wikipedia:WikiProject Jainism.

Proposed Addition - Islam Barnstar

I've created a Barnstar 2.0 for the Islam Award for WP:ISLAM. Went with just updating the original. Really isn't a better choice than a caligraphy Bismillah! Proposing its addition to WP:Barnstars 2.0. — Will (talk) 12:34, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Why is the Israeli flag sideways?
[edit]Why is the Israeli flag sideways? What is it? A Demonic version of the Star of David like the inverted Star of Solomon, that you have as a 2D projection of your Superstar award.
