Wikipedia talk:BOLD, revert, revert, revert
Completely wrong
[edit]I am strongly opposed to this page, as it is clearly an inaccurate representation of how Wikipedia works.
The process is BRRRC - BOLD, revert, revert, revert, complain to an admin. Of course WP:ANI is the most appropriate venue for this, but I've seen it applied at WP:AN, WP:AIV and WP:AN/3RR as well. Confusing Manifestation(Say hi!) 23:01, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

[Department of Fun] Proposal: Coordinated edit wargame, for fun and to demonstrate BRRR non-disruptively.
[edit]This is an official Department of Fun operation. Those without a sense of humor need not continue reading further. |
Title says all. Who's in?
We must, of course coordinate it beforehand, so that it's a controlled, non-disruptive demonstration that can be pointed to as an example of what not to do. Said coordination can be done here, in this talk-page thread, or wherever else may be convenient.
The basic idea is: Somebody makes a fake, hyper-bold, drastic edit. Then we follow the BRRR cycle, edit comments (pre-scripted) being as dramatic and fun as possible, while demonstrating key things regarding common deviations-from/violations-of the actual BRD cycle.
We could also add additional fun by reducing the level of coordination/scripting, to allow it to proceed in a more realistic manner, but a test run on the talk page or in a sandbox should be run before trying that out, to make sure it works. (And if it ends up with something fun, we can copy and paste (after a revision/editing cycle) to finalize it in the edit history of the article page on which the wargame is staged.)
One potential fun ending could be the BRRRC variant, in which a user playing the role of an admin reverts both wargaming parties' edits in full, leaving a comment saying that both are now blocked. (I also have another fun idea: The BRRRT variant, which is pure humor, involving a kinetic military attack on an editor as part of an edit war. The T could mean "Terminate" or "Terrorist attack," whichever is funnier. It would also continue the A-10 joke/theme/pun, and nicely wrap up the joke of an edit war being like a real war.)
For options other than staging the edit wargame here, we could also do the edit wargame on another page, either one that's already set up for a similar purpose (idk any; I'm new to the Department of Fun) or a dedicated humor page.
The final result would be a series in the edit history that can be linked to on the page, showing how BRRR is a bad idea (while humorously presenting it as a GREAT idea).
