October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase

[edit]

 Done

If this is going out after voting starts, it would be clearer to just say when voting stops, but that should be to the minute and timezone not the day. For example voting has started and continues until 24:00 31st October 2024 UTC" ϢereSpielChequers 22:14, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This seems fine. Feel free to make the change if you want :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 00:09, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suffrage

[edit]

As voting runs for a whole week the suffrage requirements need clarification. Is everything that says "before the election" before the election starts or before it ends? I don't greatly care whether you define this as 00:01 on the 22th October 2024 or 24:00 on the 31st October 2024. But this will effect whether some people can vote and worse, we have lots of pedants here who will want this decided. ϢereSpielChequers 22:25, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The de facto suffrage will be from the date and time that Cyberpower678 generates the voter rolls, which will probably be today or tomorrow. If someone were to hypothetically not be eligible today, but become eligible in a few days, and they missed the generation of the list, then I think the SecurePoll software would prevent them from voting. But they could post on WT:AELECT and we could arrange to add them to the eligible voter list as a one off. Hopefully this doesn't come up much. –Novem Linguae (talk) 00:15, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
