Wikipedia talk:2008 main page redesign proposal/Main Page Draft
Synchronizing the new Main Page with Wikipedia's contents system
[edit]Note that the selection of subjects currently displayed in the Main Page's matrix of portals does not match the main subjects displayed in Wikipedia's contents system:
General reference
Culture and the arts
Geography and places
Health and fitness
History and events
Human activities
Mathematics and logic
Natural and physical sciences
People and self
Philosophy and thinking
Religion and belief systems
Society and social sciences
Technology and applied sciences
Nor does the Main Page's selection of subjects in its portal matrix match those on the {{browsebar}} displayed at the top of virtually every portal:
We should fix this inconsistency, and integrate the standards used for Wikipedia's contents system into the Main Page.
Major subject areas that are blatantly missing from the Main Page's portal links are Culture, Health, Philosophy, and Religion; yet the standard is to treat those as major subjects throughout the rest of Wikipedia. That standard should be applied to the Main Page too, to the greatest extent possible.
