"Your mileage may vary". A play on car commercials who touted the range and milage of certain vehicles. Invariably, mileage seemed to be lower than advertised due to strict testing criteria that were not reasonable for normal people (such as driving on a nearly empty tank with the single lightest person behind the wheel and no cargo).
To be blunt, opinions are like assholes: everyone has one. What may be an obvious problem to you might be normal for others or possibly even laudable behavior to another group. Reasonable people can disagree amicably. Ultimately, we will decide such matters by consensus, so seek out the opinions of others and rejoice when we have a consensus, even if it isn't the one you wanted.
