Wikipedia Takes Queens is part of Wikipedia Takes America and Wiki Loves Monuments in the US in September 2013.
The Wikipedia Takes Queens photo scavenger hunt is aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles covering the wondrous sights and history of the County of Queens! It will be held on Saturday September 21, 2013. The starting point is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Queens in Major Mark Park in Jamaica, Queens. Take the F train to 169th Street OR take the E, J, or Z trains to Archer Avenue then take the Q54 bus along Archer Avenue. Preferably bring a digital camera with removable memory card. If using a phone-camera, please bring the necessary cable to transfer your photos.
Events of the Day
[edit]Between 11AM and noon, check-in at the starting point.
At noon, we'll go over the rules and distribute the items list. You will have four hours to make your away across the borough to take your pictures. Be artistic! Be creative! Have fun!
At 4PM, arrive at the final destination (TBA) to download your photos, grab a cold beverage and some snacks.
After all the teams have arrived, we'll view (and judge!) your photos and tally up the points. May the best team win!
Stick around for the after party/Wi-kiki!
Rules
[edit]- Teams must consist of three or more people. (If you don't have a team, don't worry, we'll find one for you.)
- Teams must stay together.
- Photos for the Wiki Loves Monuments contest should not include faces and are discouraged.
- Photos for this Wikipedia Loves Queens contest can include faces and are encouraged. Bonus points!!
