Equipment

□ Sharpie or pen; pencil if museum rules disallow the former
□ Index Cards
□ White card/plastic to set white balance (if possible)

Camera settings

  • Flash off if museum rules state such
  • Program mode (OR "portrait" OR "auto")

ISO

  • Normal lighting = 200 ISO
  • Darker lighting = 400 ISO
  • Very dark = 800 to 1600 ISO, only if necessary

Aperture

  • Not necessary to set in basic Program mode
  • Lowest possible (f/2.8 for some cameras, f/8 for others)

Shutter speed

  • Not necessary to set in Program mode
  • Lowest possible with no blur; 50 is best, 20 if possible

White Balance

  • White balance set manually if possible, or on "auto" if not
