Club Updates
[edit]- Tomorrow is our Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon! Join us from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in Thompson Library room 150A/B. If you plan on attending, please take a few moments to RSVP here!
- On Thursday, Wikipedia Connection is teaming up with Open Source Club and OHI/O to present on how to incorporate Wikipedia and its sister projects into your next development project. The presentation will explore MediaWiki (the software behind Wikipedia), the MediaWiki API, machine learning and botting with Wikipedia, Wikidata (a free structured knowledgebase), and more. There will be an introduction to Tool Labs, Wikimedia’s free hosting environment for Wikimedia projects, as well as a look at some of the cool open source projects that have been developed for Wikipedia - which include vandalism-detecting bots, edit gamification, and making live music out of Wikipedia edits. We hope you can join us - laptops are encouraged, and there will be free pizza.
- No weekly workshop next week due to Thanksgiving Break. Enjoy your break and have a great Thanksgiving!
Wikipedia Tidbit of the Day
[edit]"Wikiquette" refers to proper etiquette on Wikipedia. With so many different views, perspectives, and backgrounds, editors are expected to be friendly and flexible, and focus on the task at hand.
