Hmm...
Well, Carol Thatcher (daughter of Margaret Thatcher), and Tony Blair and various other prime ministers were born in 1953, when Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first "conquered" Mount Everest.
I have no idea how the numbers are relevant or what the list is. The list needs lots of entries - for example, List of asteroids/1–1000, but 60 Echo, 183 Istria, 209 Dido, and 802 Epyaxa don't seem all that important.
The 69% vote seems to refer to the French referendum on the European Constitution(although, in fact, it was 55% "no" vote out of a turnout of 69%).
Even close? Thought not... -- ALoan (Talk) 22:45, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Not really. Carol Thatcher, Tony Blair, Asteroids, 1953, Tenzing Norgay and the French referendum on the European Constitution have nothing to do with this. Dmn 00:51, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Knights Of The Garter
[edit]Edmund Hillary, conqueror of Everest is a member of the Order_of_the_Garter, list being List_of_Knights_and_Ladies_of_the_Garter.
The daughter of another PM : Mary_Soames,_Baroness_Soames, daughter of Winston_Churchill.
The other number which belongs with the above 4 : really don't know. Almost there though. --Oscarthecat 23:22, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thatcher, Major, Hillary and Soames aren't the four corresponding to the numbers. The List of Knights and Ladies of the Garter is the elsewhere mentioned in the question. Dmn 01:52, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
I believe the list in question is Line of succession to the British Throne.
The numbers given in the question correspond to:
- 60. King Harald V of Norway
- 183. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden
- 209. Queen Margrethe of Denmark
- 493. The Duke of Edinburgh
- 802. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands
I did verify that nos. 60, 183, 209 and 802 are all present in List of Knights and Ladies of the Garter.

- Oh, that must be right: there is a natty table at Line of succession to the British Throne#European Monarchs in the Line of Succession:
Country | Monarch | Position
Norway | HM King Harald V | 60
Sweden | HM King Carl XVI Gustaf | 183
Denmark | HM Queen Margarethe II | 209
Netherlands | HM Queen Beatrix | 802 |
- preceded by "HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of the reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II is himself in the line of succession as a great-great grandson of Queen Victoria through his mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg. He is currently positioned at 493rd." and followed by the parenthetical remark "Were he not a Catholic, HM King Juan Carlos of Spain, as the great-grandson of Princess Beatrice, who in turn was the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria, would be in the Line of Succession somewhere around the 500 mark." -- ALoan (Talk) 17:51, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- A message from Dmn by proxy: You're on the right track, but haven't answered the question yet... David 5000 00:06, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Ah! The question is who else should be on the list (I am assuming the list in question is still Line of succession to the British Throne). The only other monarch I can see is Constantine II of Greece, number 423. His page says that only 31% supported the retention of the monarchy in Greece in 1974 (that is, 69% did not), so I guess we are taking about him. His wife, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, is also in the list in her own right as number 221, followed by their children. -- ALoan (Talk) 01:01, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well done, I was indeed looking for Constantine II's rank on the British Line of Succession. 10 points User:Zoicon5 for realising the succession was the key, the rest of the points for User:ALoan for answering the question. Dmn 16:43, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
