Going round in circles on the circle line
[edit]I'm missing one step (the relative) but I've got the rest (I think):
Temple tube station => Tower Hill tube station => ?? => Christiaan Huygens => Pendulum clock => 1656 => 1666 => Great Fire of London => Monument to the Great Fire of London => Bank and Monument stations => Temple tube station...
- Close, but no cigar. Dmn 14:58, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Ealing?
[edit]- I started at Temple tube station, travelled five stations to Sloane Square tube station.
- Hans Sloane, who quasi "bought" Sloane Square was born 1660.
Here I was quite lost.. I clicked on various links, but could not find any interesting Europeans. Maybe the wrong station? I finally clicked on 1687 where I met Mr. Huygens..
- Constantijn Huygens was born many years beforehand, in 1596, died 1687.
- Christiaan Huygens, his son, used the pendulum, to improve the clock, creating the pendulum clock (patented 1656)
- +10 = In 1666, the Great fire of London breaks out in Pudding Lane - French watchmaker Robert "Lucky" Hubert was wrongly executed.
- Close by, the Tower of London features a large pendulum clock, near Tower Hill tube station
- Went underground at Tower Hill tube station and took the district line to end up at Ealing Broadway station, Ealing. But that's still in London, isn't it?
It does not feel right though, the link from Hans Sloane to Constantijn Huygens is very weak. There must be something I missed.

Question 14 Answer
[edit]This may be completely stupid, but what the heck;
I started at Temple tube station, but couldn't find any luck there. So I searched for "Execution in France" which returned Louis d'Elbée. I figured the "event" that happened may be the French Revolution, and that started in 1989, so the patent must have happened in 1979. The only invention there is the Smethwick Engine, which is used in Millennium Point, in the City of Birmingham. So if it's not in London, is it in Birmingham?. Lord ViD 20:32, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- Completely wrong I'm afraid. All three of you started in the wrong place. Dmn 03:17, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Ah, mais bien sur!
[edit]Ah. I already guessed that there was another temple station meant. But I looked in the wrong cities..
- start at Temple_(Paris_Metro)
- travel five stations to Quatre_Septembre_(Paris_Metro) (named for 4 September 1870 - deposing of Emperor Napoléon III, declaration of the Third Republic)
- September 4th is the birth date of Constantijn Huygens.
(..then, see above..)

- Indeed Temple_(Paris Metro) is mentioned on the Temple tube station page. Well Done! 20 points for you. Dmn 16:24, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
