This will be an introduction to the field of Chemical Ecology. The course will be seminar based, with class time devoted to discussing at least one primary literature article in the field of chemical ecology per class. Students will work on a Wikipedia education module over the period of the course, culminating in students contributing substantially to at least 2 topics of their choice on Wikipedia in a manner that would be communally beneficial; the values of neutrality and notability align with a course objective to establish a core and accepted understanding of the state of the field. This Wikipedia module will constitute the major class project (there will be no final exam). This class is offered concurrently as a graduate level course; graduate students will do the same activities, except they will be required to present orally at the end of the course on one of the topics they may have edited. Students will work and be graded independently on topics of their choice, but are welcome to discuss and work collaboratively; each student will also be required to provide feedback/review other student entries in the spirit of scientific accountability and accepted practices of communal peer review.
