The study of the varieties of modern American English: regional, social, and ethnic varieties, gender differences in communication, creoles and pidgins, stylistic variation. History and methods of American dialect study. Students will edit/add Wikipedia pages related to the study of variation in American English. This assignment will be the final exam for the course, with several building block assignments throughout the semester.
