This course explores the selection, long-term preservation, and maintenance of digital assets. The course provides both historical and theoretical frameworks for managing various expressions of digital culture, including both digitized and born-digital archival materials. The course also addresses ongoing debates about the related but distinct concepts of preservation, curation, and stewardship. Students have been asked to write an Encyclopedia Entry and will be using Wikipedia to either create or update pages based on their research for the Encyclopedia Entry assignment (all terms related to digital archives such as ingest, checksum, migration, etc.).
