UCLA's LGBTQ Studies' Queer Arts in L.A. course provides an introduction of Queer U.S. histories and visual art production with an emphasis on Los Angeles, representation, arts activism, AIDS art, censorship, artistic process, gender and sexuality. The objective of this course is for students to gain an introductory overview of the development of contemporary Queer visual arts, and how it reflects the evolution and expansion of Queer identities. Students will use Wikipedia to research Queer visual artists, and write new biographical articles.
