According to the general catalog, ANTV 307 is about “cultural adaptation with emphasis on the systematic interaction of environment, technology, and social organization among hunter-gatherers, nomadic herders, and peasant farmers.”

Anthropologists have studied how peoples interact, understand, shape and are shaped by the environment. The topic has been approached in various ways for over half a century. In this course, we will examine how peoples understand and interact with the ecosystem physically, culturally and socially. We will talk about the application of ecological and environmental thought to anthropological study. This course is for students from a variety of majors and backgrounds who wish to learn more about the intersection of people and the natural world.
