Texas Tech's Sowell Family Collection in Literature, Community and the Natural World contains the personal papers of some of the country's most prominent writers on the natural world. Writers in the Sowell Collection have received numerous honors including a National Book Award, a MacArthur Genius Award, Stegner Fellowships, John Burroughs Awards, and numerous awards for literary and scientific writing. However, there is no extant entry for the Sowell Collection, which contains the papers of some of the world's most prominent writers of the environment (Barry Lopez, Bill McKibben, etc.). This honors class will create a page for the Collection after getting to know its contents firsthand; edit and revise as appropriate the entries of the 28 writers whose papers are held in the Collection; and contribute media as needed to add interest and color for users.
