The Women and Public Policy Course examines public policy for women workers in the U.S. through the experiences and realities of domestic workers. The course leverages active learning and critical thinking skills through hands-on community service work. Students explore their own ideas about public policy, privilege, and identity to address inequality and discrimination on a national and global scale. In light of globalization and increasing inequality along with eroding worker protections, what solutions are needed to protect the predominately female workforce addressing the critical gap in care work? What do the experiences of domestic workers tell us about the overall state of public policy for workers in the U.S. and abroad?
