Media effects and media literacy are big aspects of this course overall. Topics may include: impact of media on behavior, popular topics in media effects including but not limited to video games, sex and sexuality in media, health, body image, music, films, politics, misinformation, various famous people and their influence, tik tok or other popular social media platforms, issues if identity (i.e., LGBQ+ issues, disability, gender identity and roles)...it is a class that pulls from all majors so topics related to media effects could be related to anything students are interested in. As long as they can reflect on their topic in ways that relate to the theories or concepts we discuss in class I am open to whatever topics they pick that Wiki decides are OK for students to edit.
