This is a required course for all undergraduate history majors at Oregon State University. Students learn writing, citation, and research skills and analyze both primary and secondary historical sources.

Click on the Articles tab and select a topic from the list of black abolitionists that I have curated. All of these people either have no Wikipedia pages or minimal pages (stubs). It is a good idea to do some pre-research, such as a preliminary Google search on a person, before making your final selection. Be sure you have enough sources to write a short article.

Everyone has begun writing their article drafts.
To demonstrate this, you should write one brief paragraph (3 – 4 sentences) in your sandbox for your chosen Wikipedia article. Be sure to include at least one citation using the citation tool.

You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.

Now that you've improved your draft based on others' feedback, it's time to move your work live - to the "mainspace."

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.
